DECEMBER 30, 2010: The Bo Diddley Foundation, together with the City of Archer, FL -- Bo's "adopted home town" -- is proud to announce that it will present the First Annual "Bo Diddley Originator Award" to Dr. John Duff at a Gala Dinner to be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Archer Community School in Archer, FL.

The dinner, which is scheduled for 7:00pm, will be preceded by a reception and silent auction -- which will include Bo Diddley Memorabilia -- at 6:00pm. Music will be provided by Heartley Leacock, Jr. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Bo Diddley Foundation and The City of Archer's youth programs. Former Gainesville Mayor, Pegeen Hanrahan, is serving as the Honorary Chair.

Dr. Duff is the Director of the School of Music, College of Fine Arts, at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. Throughout his long and distinguished career, Dr. Duff has demonstrated a commitment to children and their education, as well as provided strong and focused leadership within the local community. These qualities, which mirror those that were among the most important to Bo during his lifetime, are most clearly embodied in Dr. Duff, and we are therefore very happy to present Dr. Duff with the first “Originator” award.
